Philly boys’ and girls’ teams gear for first U.S. Lacrosse U-15 National Tournament

Six Philadelphia teams will compete this week in the first-ever U.S. Lacrosse National U-15 Tournament at Cedar Lane Sports Park in Bel Air, Md.

The Phantastix White and Purple teams, the SEPA 2013 White squad and the Wissahickon Lacroosse Club will compete in the 30-team girls’ tourney today through Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Twist Lacrosse Club and PennStar will compete in the 32-team boys’ field Wednesday through Friday, Girls’ play concludes with the championship game on July 8 at 2 p.m. Boys’ play ends with the title game on July 10 at 2 p.m.

SEPA 2013 is in Pool D while Wissahickon LC is in Pool E, Phantastix White is in Pool G and Phantastix Purple is in
Pool H. For the boys, Twist is in Pool D and PennStar will play in Pool F.
The championship trophy is displayed in the US Lacrosse Museum and National Hall of Fame in Baltimore. Tournament champions also will receive commemorative jackets provided by Endurafit, the official retailer of the US Lacrosse U-15 National Championship.

Outstanding players from the boys’ and girls’ championships will be selected to respective Lacrosse Magazine All-Tournament Teams. Brine will award new Reign sticks to the girls’ Lacrosse Magazine All-Tournament team and new Voyce sticks to the boys’ Lacrosse Magazine All-Tournament team.

The 2009 US Lacrosse U-15 National Championship was created under the collective guidance of the US Lacrosse Youth Council and a committee of national youth lacrosse leaders. An inaugural event for US Lacrosse, the organization’s mission is to provide the highest level of national lacrosse competition for U-15 boys and girls with US Lacrosse’s high standards of event management, safety, sportsmanship and camaraderie.

The event is sponosred by Modell’s Sporting Goods.

Quarterfinals – 2:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, July 8

Semifinals – 9 a.m.

Third Place game – noon.

Championship – 2 p.m.
