Radnor senior midfielder/face-off specialist Cole Yeager has committed to play next year at Yale University.

Yeager, a first-team All-Central League choice last year, said Yale offered the best mix of academics and lacrosse.

“I love the city (atmosphere),” said Yeager of the New Haven, Conn., college. “The campus is great and they have beautiful buildings.

“It was a tough pick deciding between a few schools. The recruiting process for me was long; and for those out there doing it now, its not always the best time of your life. But you get through it.”

Yeager brings an impressive academic resume with him to Yale. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is on the distinguished honor roll at Radnor, He also was an All-Academic wrestler last year

“I think I am going to study business,” he said. “Or I may go into pre-med and think about orthopedic surgery.”

“Lacrosse-wise, I know the team is young, but they started off by beating Holy Cross and I am excited to get into the mix.”

Yeager, an honorable mention All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last season, was recruited primarily for his expertise in face-offs. He won 70 percent of his draws last season and credits his quickness.

“My strengths are quick hands and the ability to get the ball our faster than the other guy,” he said. “I was recruited for my ability to win ace-offs, but I have been working the past two years as a starting midfielder and I am looking forward to getting on the field in other ways.”

Yeager also is looking forward to the coming season, The Red Raiders figure to be a serious contender in the Central League and in District 1.

“The Central League is always a great league,” he said. “In my mind, it’s just as good as the Inter-Ac.

“With the great competition in the league, it’s hard to tell (who will win). I think we can make a run far into the playoffs, and there is no reason we can’t make the state championship. Our senior class is very talented and our juniors are also going to fill a lot of spots left.”
