Kyle Quist scored four goals while Matt Hughes added a hat trick and two assists as host Central Bucks East thrashed Central Bucks West, 12-3, Wednesday night to clinch the Suburban One League Continental Conference championship at War Memorial Field.
The win gave East an 11-1 league record (13-3 overall), one game ahead of Hatboro-Horsham (10-2). West finished at 9-3 (12-6 overall). The Patriots also earned the conference’s only automatic berth to the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (EPSLA) playoffs.
Rich O’Brien added two goals for East, which led, 6-1, at halftime and 8-1 after three quarters. Goalkeeper Chase Kulda was strong in the nets.
PAC-10 playoffs
Kyle Niemann and Colton Szostek had three goals each to lead Spring-Ford to a 12-9 triumph over Lansdale Catholic in the Pioneer Athletic Conference semifinals at Owen J. Roberts. The Rams (11-7) will meet regular-season champion Owen J. Roberts for the title and an autmatic berth in the EPSLA playoffs Friday at Owen J. at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats (14-4) claimed a 6-5 victory over Boyertown as Dan Rosato scored the game-winner with 17 seconds remaining in overtime in the other semifinal.
Greg Nester and Mike Costanzo scored within a 25-second span in the final four and a half minutes to send it into OT after the Bears had seized a 5-3 lead on tallies by Zach Teator and Taylor Acree. Jimi Hennessy set up the game-winner by winning a key face-off.
Girls
Unionville 15, Great Valley 14, OT
Lisa Riondet scored with 1:14 left in overtime to lift the host Indians (9-7, 3-3) to a stunning upset of the Patriots, denying Great Valley a share of the Ches-Mont League American Conference title.
The loss dropped the Pats (15-4, 4-2) into second place behind Bayard Rustin (5-1), which claimed the title outright. Great Valley is ranked second by Phillylacrosse.com.
Unionville rebounded from an 11-5 halftime deficit and send the game into OT on the sixth tally by Erica Midiri with 3:27 left in regulation.
Kalyn McDonough had the assist on the game-winner by Riondet and Melissa Lloyd (nine saves) made several key saves in the goal while Molly Kotsch, Heather Wentz and McDonough were standouts on defense. Lizzy Carney and Kristin Brownett added two goals each for the Indians.
Emily Ellisen paced the Patriots with seven goals while Brittany Greaves, Keelin Hood and Haley Sheehan added two each,
PAC-10 playoffs
Allie Kakareka scored six goals and Jess Schubach added three as Spring-Ford toppled Pottstown, 17-11, to move into the finals Friday (8:00) at Owen J. Roberts against top-seeded Boyertown. Kasey Mock led the Trojans (13-5) with four goals and Ashley Wood was strong in transition for the Rams (12-6). Boyertown (16-3), ranked eighth by Phillylacrosse.com, advanced by handling Phoenixville, 16-6.
Germantown Academy 15, Baldwin 14
Kate Henrich scored four goals while Amanda Jones, Heather Rittenhouse and Olivia Mann added three apiece to lead the host patriots (11-8, 6-5) to the Inter-Ac League win over the Fighting Irish (14-6, 7-5). Bridget Burns and Kelly McCallion had two goals each for Notre Dame.
