Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings: No. 2 Rustin hosts No. 3 Great Valley today

While Radnor stayed atop the Phillylacrosse.com Scholastic Girls Top 10 Poll, No. 2 Bayard Rustin hosts No. 3 Great Valley today in a showdown of unbeaten teams in the Ches-Mont American. This week’s poll:

1. Radnor (6-0) – The Raiders got their first remote competition in an 18-11 win over North Penn. They play at Penncrest today and then have key games against Conestoga (home) Thursday and No. 8 Episcopal (away) Friday. Last week: No. 1.

2. Bayard Rustin (4-0) – After whipping Penncrest, 22-5, the Golden Knights find out where they stand today as they host No. 3 Great Valley in a Ches-Mont American showdown. Last week: No. 2.

3. Great Valley (6-0) – The Patriots got tested by Unionville (12-9) and Downingtown West (19-16) last week. The real test comes today at Rustin. Last week: No. 3.

4. Springfield-Delco (7-1) – The Cougars clubbed Jenkintown, 12-1, Monday and play at Upper Darby today. They also host Ridley Thursday. Last week: No. 4.

5. Abington (8-0) – The Ghosts toppled Council Rock North, 19-9, Monday and are gearing for Wednesday’s Suburban One National showdown against visiting North Penn. Last week: No. 5.

6. Archbishop Carroll (4-0) – The Patriots rallied past host Good Counsel, Md., 10-9, on the strength of three late goals. They host Boyertown today and go for their 100th straight Catholic League win Wednesday against visiting Little Flower. Last week: No. 6.

7. Downingtown West (8-1) – The Whippets rebounded from a 19-16 loss to No. 3 Great Valley with a 19-3 win over Bishop Shanahan. They host Unionville Saturday. Last week: No. 8.

8. Episcopal Academy (6-1) – The Churchwomen break into the poll after big wins over former, No. 10 Germantown Academy (20-13), Delaware power Tower Hill (13-9), Notre Dame (15-11) and Chicago’s Loyola Academy (13-7). They fell to Maryland’s Holy Cross, 16-14. They host Agnes Irwin today and then No. 1 Radnor Friday. Last week: unranked.

9. Downingtown East (7-1) – The Cougars bounced back from their loss to
Downingtown West with easy victories over Bishop Shanahan, 17-2, and Council Rock North, 16-5. They host Avon Grove today and play at Coatesville Thursday and then host No. 3 Great Valley Saturday. Last week: No. 9.

10. Strath Haven (6-2) – The Panthers recovered nicely from a 23-9 loss to No. 1 Radnor by dumping Conestoga, 8-6. They play at Haverford today and host Lower Merion Thursday. Last week: No. 7.

Under consideration: Villa Maria Academy, Boyertown, North Penn, Conestoga, Germantown Academy, Merion Mercy.
