At halftime Roman Catholic coach Jim Brennan reminded his team to keeping shooting on goal in its Catholic League boys’ game Wednesday at Monsignor Bonner.

Pat Weiler did continue to shoot and the result was a late goal that gave the Cahillites (3-3, 2-2) a hard-fought 5-4 victory, ending their two-game losing streak.

Weiler goal came just moments after Tom Will tied the game at 4-4 for the Friars (0-6, 0-3).

“This was a morale pick up and important for in the Catholic League standings,” Weiler said.

Brennan echoed the importance of the game by saying, “ it was important for us.”

For the victorious Cahillites, Matt Melady scored two goals while Rob Gregor and Jeoff McGrath added one each. Mike Haughney and and Alex Defruscio combined for eight saves in the goal.

Gregor, McGrath and Pat Shields had assists. Bonner also received goals from Alex DeFruscio, Dan Prazenica and Kyle Damico.

The Cahillites will look to extend their winning streak today when they host Neumann- Goretti. The Friars play at Kennedy-Kenrick tomorrow.

In girls’ action…
Allison Zuzelo scored in overtime off a pass from Chrissy Pasquariello to lift Harriton to a 10-9 victory over Chichester in the Del-Val League. Carli Sukonilk had three goals and an assist for the Rams while Zuzelo and Jess Rothstein had two goals each…Heather Rittenhouse and Olivia Mann scored four goals each, but Germantown Academy (4-2) dropped a 14-12 decision to Lawrenceville (N.J.).
