Women’s lacrosse: Drexel downs Temple, 10-9, in 2OT on Harding (Penncrest) goal

Grace Harding (Penncrest) scored in overtime to lift visiting Drexel to a 10-9 victory over Temple on Wednesday evening. The sudden victory goal occurred with under a minute left in overtime two. The Dragons are 9-4 as they head into their last three games of the regular season, all of which are against CAA opponents.

BY THE NUMBERS
Leading the way were Alex Wall and Grace Harding who scored hat tricks
Corinne Bednarik (Downingtown West) collected her 32nd goal, a pair of assists, and seven draw controls
Captain Belle McHugh (Academy of the New Church) caused three turnovers and picked up a ground ball in a great defensive effort
In goal, Jenika Cuocco stood tall as she found 12 saves including one in extra time

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dragons struck first as Hayleigh Simpson and Alex Wall scored back-to-back in the sixth and seventh minutes. TU answered back moments later but Harding was successful on two shots to close out the opening frame with the Dragons up by one.
The Owls wasted no time as they scored twice at the start of the second quarter. Maddie Fowler earned the equalizer to tie the contest at five with under seven minutes to go in the frame. DU ended the half strong on a pair of goals by Bednarik and Wall to give them a 7-5 advantage.
Wall found her 11th tally of the year and Harding followed with her 25th to put Drexel up by three into the final quarter.
TU climbed back as the contest headed to overtime tied at nine.
After three Temple saves, Harding charged from midfield straight to goal for her 11th goal of the season and game-winner.
Camryn Zavacky (Southern Lehigh) had three goals for Temple while Belle Mastropietro (Springfield-Delco) and Maeve Tobin each had two.
