West Chester University was picked to finish second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) preseason coaches poll released Thursday afternoon.
West Chester, which was picked third in the national poll one week ago, comes in right behind 2022 PSAC Champion, East Stroudsburg, which was also picked No. 1 in the national poll last week.
The Golden Rams, who have won a conference-record 24 titles, has played for the PSAC crown in each of the past four years (minus Covid-shortened 2020) winning the championship in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
West Chester returns virtually its entire starting lineup, for the exception of a pair on defense, and the bulk of its scoring from a team that went 17-3 overall and reached the Atlantic Region finals. Six All-PSAC honorees and three All-Americans are back, along with a pair of key transfers, to aid West Chester in its bid for a 25th conference crown.
West Chester opens the 2023 slate on Feb. 21 at Shepherd University in West Virginia at 2 p.m.
