Virginia Commonwealth got the game-winning goal from Juliana George (Penncrest) just over two minutes into the overtime period to settle a back-and-forth defensive affair in a 9-8 win Saturday over Elon.
George scored a game-high four goals and Morgan Reed (Interboro) had a goal, three groundballs and a caused turnover. Riley O’Malley (Upper Merion) and Meghan McLaughlin (Garnet Valley) each scored once and Savannah Slack (eastern Regional-NJ) had four draw controls.
Cierra Hopson (Radnor) had a goal and an assist for Iona.
UNC 12, Florida 5
Marissa White (Agnes Irwin) had two goals, an assist and a groundball and Alyssa Long (Springfield-Delco) contributed a goal, an assist and two draw controls as No. 1 North Carolina defeated visiting Florida.
Also for UNC, Kiley Mottice (Archbishop Carroll) had a goal and two groundballs while Darcy Felter (Penn Charter) scored once.
Lehigh 17, Wofford 1
Leading the Lehigh offense was senior Emma Eberhardt and junior Olivia Memeger (Strath Haven) who both finished the day with four goals and one assist. Memeger tallied her third consecutive hat trick of the season while Eberhardt secured her first hat trick of the season.
Senior Katia Carnevale and sophomore Casey O’Connor were the third and fourth Mountain Hawks to register a hat trick against the Terriers, both tallying three goals. Seniors Gabby Schneider and Cassie Marte (Spring-Ford) alongside junior Emma Fiore added one goal each for Lehigh.
Loyola 12, Johns Hopkins 10
Emily Wills (Agnes Irwin) had a goal and three assists for Loyola.
Georgie Gorelick (Academy of Notre Dame) scored once for Hopkins.
Rutgers 15, Georgetown 8
Cassidy Spilis (Seneca-NJ) erupted for six goals for the Scarlet Knights.
Denver 9, Colorado 8
In a lossing cause, Sam McGee (Abington) had three goals, one assist, one groundball, one caused turnover and one draw control while Grace Donnelly (Shipley School) had 10 saves and three groundball in goal.
Boston University 14, Iona 9
Claire Gola (Academy of Notre Dame) had two goals, one assist, six draw controls, five groundballs and four caused turnovers to lead 3-0 BU. Madison Vetterlein (Episcopal Academy) had three groundballs and a caused turnover while Olivia Kingsborough (Garnet Valley) had two groundballs and a caused turnover.
Emily Stewart (Harriton) had three goals for Iona.
James Madison 11, UConn 7
Rachel Matey (Archbishop Carroll) had six draw controls, a groundballs and a caused turnover and Carolyn Thistlewaite (New Hope-Solebury) had two caused turnovers for JMU.
