From Press Release
Wilmington University women’s lacrosse standout Taylor Lambeth (Appoquinimink) was named the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Lambeth, who was also placed on the All-CACC First Team at attack, earned the awards after the voting was completed by the 10 head coaches in the league.
In addition to Lambeth, several other women’s lacrosse standouts earned major awards including Dominican College’s Grace DeStasio (CACC Rookie of the Year), Holy Family University’s Lynn Hardy (CACC Defensive Player of the Year, Camden Catholic-NJ) and Dominican’s Kristinamarie Kaszovitz (CACC Goalkeeper of the Year). Dominican’s Rob Grella was named the CACC Coach of the Year, and Nyack College earned the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award for demonstrating outstanding class and character during the season.
Lambeth leads the CACC in assists (60) and points (93), and her 33 goals ranks 16th in the conference. She logged five or more points in nine games including two contests with double-digit points. Lambeth posted three goals and 14 assists in a win over Chestnut Hill College on March 23. She followed that up with a 10-point affair (2 G & 8 A) on March 26 in a victory over Post University.
DeStasio, who also earned first-team honors at attack, has had a sensational debut season at the collegiate level. She ranks fourth in the CACC in goals (56) and points (74). Her 18 helpers is the eighth-best mark in the CACC.
Hardy was named the league’s top defensive player after she ranked second with 23 caused turnovers. She scooped up 44 ground balls during the regular season which led the league. Hardy totaled 92 draw controls that was the third-best mark in the league. She gathered first-team honors as well at the defender spot.
Kaszovitz ranks second in the CACC with an 8.74 goals against average. She tops the CACC with 11 wins and ranks second with a 48.8 percent save percentage. Kaszovitz was also named First-Team All-CACC Goalkeeper.
Grella was tabbed as the league’s top coach for guiding Dominican to a 12-4 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play during the regular season. The Chargers enter this week’s CACC Championship as the third seed, as they did not compete last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
