Matt Bohmer scored six goals, Zach Cole (Lenape) won 20 of 30 faceoffs and a 7-1 third quarter run lifted host St. Joseph’s (2-1) to a 15-13 win over visiting Penn State (1-3) today.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The teams traded the first six goals of the game before Penn State claimed the final two tallies of the opening period to go ahead 5-3 after one.
The Nittany Lions recorded the first two scores of the second stanza before the Hawks went on a 3-1 advantage into the half for an 8-6 PSU lead.
St. Joe’s pulled ahead for good in the third with the 7-1 margin to lead 13-9 after three.
A man-up goal by Mac McLaughlin (Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) started the final stanza before Penn State ripped off three-straight scores up to the 4:38 mark with SJU up, 14-12. Bohmer scored his final of the day shortly after to give the Hawks a 15-12 lead. The visitors claimed their final score with 1:26 remaining and couldn’t make anything stick the rest of the way.
Carter Page and Tucker Brown each tallied a pair of scores for the Hawks. Levi Anderson, Austin Strazzulla, William King, Colin Reich, and McLauhglin all registered a goal. Jack Anderson and Levi Anderson each recorded an assist. Tucker Almany (2-1) picked up the victory making eight saves on 21 shots on target.
For Penn State (1-3), Jack Traynor had four goals and three assists, Jeb Brenfleck (Academy of the New Church) had three goals, Will peden (Malvern Prep) had a goal and four assists and Mark Sickler (Hershey) scored twice.
