From Press Release
West Chester University was well represented on the 2021 All-PSAC Women’s Lacrosse team that was recently announced.
Three players, Tatum Altman, Lindsay Monigle (Cape Henlopen) and Molly Reinhart (Wilson), were named to the first team while four others, Tara Morrissey (Bishop Shanahan), Trisha Baud (West Deptford, N.J.), Hannah Stanislawczyk (Gov. Mifflin) and Lexi Einsig (Exeter), were named to the second team.
Altman finished the regular season as the leading scorer in the PSAC with 44 goals and 74 points on the year. She averages 3.67 goals per game and just over 6.0 points per game. Earlier in the season, Altman became the sixth player in school history to score 100 goals and assist on 100 others. She is just six ground balls away from the century mark as well. Altman registered at least two points in every game this spring, including a career-high 12 at Kutztown in the regular-season finale. The crafty attacker has scored five goals in each of the Golden Rams’ last three games and produced 25 points over that same span.
Monigle picked up right where her 2020 campaign was cut short. The junior attacker posted 32 goals and 20 assists for a 52-point season. She ranked fourth in the PSAC in points per game and sixth in assists per game. Her seven helpers in the PSAC semifinal was a career high and a big reason why West Chester advanced to the conference title game.
Reinhart lived up to her preseason billing as All-America from Inside Lacrosse Magazine. She leads the nation in caused turnovers with 46. She adds to that with her 36 ground balls. Her 3.0 ground balls per game ranks seventh in the PSAC. While continually marking the opposition’s top threat, Reinhart’s presence in the back is a big reason the Golden Rams can boast of the conference’s top defensive unit. No. 4 is the backbone of that backline. A two-time PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week, Reinhart would have easily walked away with defensive player of the year accolades, if the loop identified such.
Morrissey has owned the “X” behind the opponent’s cage for the last five years. She has set up her office behind the cage and few have had the impact that she has had in their career. T-Money, as she is affectionately known by her teammates, is worth every penny. In 2021, Morrissey registered 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 points.
Baud enjoyed her best season of her career. Besides handling most of the faceoff duties all season, Baud established herself as a formidable scoring threat. She finished second on the team in goals scored (36) and third in points (44). Her 3.0 goals per game average ranked seventh in the PSAC. She also placed second on the team in draw controls with 36.
Einsig was spectacular as a defensive midfielder for the Golden Rams. She recorded 22 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers this past spring. Her innate ability to anticipate the play and intercept passes was critical to the Golden Rams’ top-ranked defense, and her speed on clears made that part of the game seem effortless.
Finally, a transfer from St. Joseph’s following the fall semester turned out to be one of the most influential additions to head coach Ginny Martino’s squad. Stanislawcyzk was relentless on draws, annoying on 1v1 coverages, too fast for most opponents through the midfield and difficult to stop inside the 8-meter circle. The freshman midfielder scored 30 goals, posted 35 points and corralled 48 draws so far on the year. She has 17 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers to boot.
West Chester defeated Seton Hill in the PSAC Championship Game on Sunday.
