Following an impressive regular season, six members of the Lehigh women’s lacrosse team received All-Patriot League recognition on Monday while graduate student Sondra Dickey (Conestoga) and head coach Jill Redfern (Ursinus) were named the league’s Midfielder and Coach of the Year, respectively. The six honorees are the Mountain Hawks’ most since 2010, when they also had six. It’s tied for the second most in program history and most since the Patriot League expanded with the additions of Boston University and Loyola in 2014.

Dickey becomes Lehigh’s first Midfielder of the Year since another of the program’s all-time greats (Lauren Dykstra) won it in 2011. The Coach of the Year is Redfern’s third of her career and first since 2011. Redfern has three of Lehigh women’s lacrosse’s five all-time Patriot League Coach of the Year honors.

Dickey was also named first team All-Patriot League for a third straight season (no league awards were presented in 2020). This season, she became the first player in program history in the top 10 for career goals (third, 194), assists (ninth, 55), points (fourth, 249), groundballs (seventh, 139), draw controls (first, 246) and caused turnovers (tied for first, 103). This season, Dickey leads the Mountain Hawks, and league, in caused turnovers (26) while also leading the team in points (39 behind 33 goals and six assists). Dickey leads the team in draw controls this season (47) and has won seven Patriot League weekly awards in 2021 (six Midfielder of the Week and one Defensive Player of the Week). The six midfield awards and seven total awards have tied a Patriot League record for a season, while her 15-career weekly awards are a Patriot League record. She was also named an IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week on Apr. 20.

Also named to the first team was sophomore Gabby Schneider, who is tied for third on the Mountain Hawks in points (18 goals, 18 assists). She has recorded multiple points in all but one game this season, and stands fifth in the Patriot League (29th nationally) in assists per contest (2.0). Among Schneider’s highlights was recording 4+ points in five straight league games (Army, Bucknell, Loyola, Navy, Lafayette). She posted seven points at La Salle (six goals, one assist) and six points (three goals, three assists) at Lafayette.

Schneider’s fellow attacker and classmate Emma Eberhardt garnered second team All-League honors after 15 points and a team-high 22 assists for 37 points during the regular season. Eberhardt stands third in the Patriot League (24th nationally) in assists per game (2.20). She has a point in every game this season, recording multiple points in eight of the 10 contests. One of the highlights was a six-goal, nine-point effort against Bucknell. She also had a goal and six assists in the season opener against Drexel, who is now in the top 10 in the national rankings.

Also named to the second team was senior Hannah Cermack, who is second on the team with 19 assists to go with four goals for 23 points (fifth on the Mountain Hawks and second among midfielders). She is also second on the team in groundballs and third in draw controls. Cermack is fourth in the Patriot League (57th nationally) in total assists with her 19. She was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week following three groundballs, three caused turnovers and two draw controls vs. Navy.

Graduate student Alexandra Ladda (Harriton) was named second team All-Patriot League for a second straight season. She helps anchor Lehigh’s defense, which stands third in the Patriot League in goals against average (9.80) and has allowed seven or fewer goals in six of its last eight games. Ladda owns 11 groundballs and five caused turnovers on the season, including four groundballs and two caused turnovers in the opener vs. Drexel.

Named All-League for the first time in her career, senior Samantha Sagi stands second in the Patriot League in save percentage (47.0) and goals against average (9.87). Those numbers are good for 25th and 16th nationally. Named second team All-Patriot League, Sagi was twice named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week – following wins over Army West Point and Navy. She has stopped 50+ percent of shots in five of the last eight games, which included stopping the first 11 sent her way vs. Army.

Seeded second in the South Division, the Mountain Hawks return to the field on Monday afternoon to host third-seeded Navy in the Patriot League Quarterfinals at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
