.@NLLWings to hold first-ever open tryout at Training Center in Voorhees, N.J. on October 16-17

Philadelphia’s National Lacrosse League franchise, the Philadelphia Wings, will hold its first-ever open tryout at the Wings Training Center in Voorhees, N.J. on October 16-17.

The inaugural 2021 Wings Player Tryout and Development Camp will be a two-day event organized and run by reigning NLL General Manager and Head Coach of the Year Paul Day and his coaching staff.  The idea for the open tryout came after the team’s scouting and talent evaluation efforts were cut back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our typical scouting and evaluation processes were dramatically impacted, so this open tryout and development camp is the perfect opportunity to get a firsthand look at some of the talent we know exists but were unable to see,” said Day. “We are aware of the skill level of lacrosse talent that exists around Philadelphia and the mid-Atlantic area and are excited to potentially identify players who could contribute to a championship squad.”

The open tryout and development camp will allow high-level lacrosse players to show off their skills right in front of Wings coaches and possibly earn a spot on the training camp roster. The camp will include two days of structured drills, scrimmages, and more.

“The Philadelphia region is home to some of the best lacrosse players in the world, and we’re eager to get those players in front of our coaching staff and see who has what it takes to compete alongside the best in the world,” said Wings President, Marc Zamarin. “We are on a mission to bring a championship to Philadelphia, and we welcome anyone who can help us achieve that goal.”

Players who are eligible to attend the event must be at least 21 years of age and currently not NLL draft eligible. The registration fee for the Wings’ development camp is $190 and includes a secured tryout slot and camp jersey.  For more information visit www.WingsLax.com/Tryouts.
