From Press Release
Corinne Bednarik (Downingtown West) of the Drexel University women’s lacrosse team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week on Tuesday morning. The news was announced by the CAA.
The Dragons began the 2021 campaign with a 19-17 nonconference road win at Lehigh this past Saturday. Bednarik recorded career highs of four goals and six draw controls in the victory, both second most on the squad in the effort.
Bednarik – a 2019 Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention Player of the Year – was one of nine Dragons to start all seven games in the pandemic-shortened campaign in 2020, which caused the cancellation of conference and NCAA championships last spring. Since the CAA never announced 2020 postseason all-conference or rookie teams, the league office is allowing true freshman from last year to remain eligible for rookie of the week conference honors in 2021.
