From Press Release
Connor Buczek ’15, the Head Coach of Cornell men’s lacrosse, has announced the addition of eight student-athletes to the Cornell men’s lacrosse program for the 2022 season. The talented group of newcomers includes US Lacrosse High School All-Americans, High School National Champions, and all-state performers, among many other accolades that the class brings with them to East Hill.
“We are excited about the eight newcomers coming to campus this fall,” said Buczek. “They are a geographically diverse group that brings an impressive skill set and a strong desire to be great to our program. They will fit well in the Cornell Lacrosse culture as we build towards a return to the field this spring.”
Four of the eight newcomers will join the Big Red’s core of midfielders, adding great depth to the position. The remainder of the class features valuable additions at multiple positions, including one attackman, one long stick midfielder, one defenseman, and one goalie. The incoming class hails from six different states, including a pair of student-athletes from New York and Vermont and one from Florida, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.
When combined with the 12 additions that were due to make their collegiate debuts in 2021, the Big Red will have 20 new faces to watch this season. Cornell is anxiously awaiting its return to play for the first time since 2020 when the pandemic struck, stopping the season dead in its tracks. The Big Red was off to a 5-0 start and a No. 2 ranking in both the Inside Lacrosse/Maverik Media Poll and the USILA Coaches’ Poll that season before COVID-19 hit.
