Boys’ lacrosse: No. 2 Haverford School races past No. 3 La Salle, 11-4, behind strong defense, goaltending

Host Haverford School used a strong all-around defense to dominate the second half and stifle La Salle, 11-4, Wednesday in non-league boys’ lacrosse.

The Fords (3-1), ranked No. 2 by, led only 4-3 at the half but used a suffocating 10-man ride, clutch goaltending by Chuck Cacciutti (10 saves) and staunch backline defense from Colby Kim, Will Costin and Mac Zeller to seize control.

Avi Mehl led the Fords with four goals and Geordy Holmes added two goals and an assist while Teddy Malone had a goal and two assists. Ryan DiRocco had a goal and an assist and Adam Greenfield won 8 of 14 faceoffs.

The Explorers (2-1) are ranked No. 3.

Mason Lasasz led La Salle with two goals and an assist and Luke Hreshko posted 11 saves in goal.
