Perhaps the longest PIAA lacrosse contest in history goes on.
One day after seeing their PIAA Class AA girls’ lacrosse semifinal postponed by severe storms, Archbishop Carroll and Twin Valley sat through two more weather delays Wednesday at Methacton, totaling more than 2 1/2 hours, before the game was suspended again.
The game will resume this morning at 10:00 back at Methacton with the District 12 champion Patriots (18-4) leading 11-8. The clock will have 15:51 remaining.
The winner of the game will meet Strath Haven, a 12-11 winner over Cardinal O’Hara Wednesday in a game also suspended from Tuesday. The title game will be played Saturday at West Chester East at 10 a.m.
Carroll bolted to a 6-2 lead, and led, 6-4, before the first delay Wednesday. The halftime score was 10-6. Twin Valley continued to attempt a rally in the second half before the second delay.
