USILA D3 Preseason Poll: Cabrini is No. 3, Ursinus No. 15

The 2019 NCAA champion Cabrini men’s lacrosse team will open the 2020 campaign ranked No. 3, according to the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) / Warrior and New Balance 2020 Men’s Coaches Preseason Division III Poll, released on Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers claimed 332 total points, including nine of the poll’s 20 first place nods.

No. 1 Salisbury topped the poll with 354 points and three first place vote, while Amherst finished second with two first place votes among its 337 total votes. Williams’ 329 votes and six first place nods were good for fourth, while RIT received 280 votes to secure the fifth spot.

The Blue and White’s 2020 slate includes five teams who are also ranked in the preseason top 20.

Cabrini’s home opener on Feb. 22 will feature No. 16 Lynchburg, with No. 19 Dickinson visiting Edith Robb Dixon Field one week later. No. 7 York will visit campus on March 20, with the Cavaliers paying a visit to No. 1 Salisbury on March 27. Cabrini will also travel south to face No. 18 Stevenson on April 10.

The Blue and White will also visit Ithaca, who also received votes in the poll, on March 7.

Cabrini will begin its quest for a 20th consecutive conference championship on Feb. 15, when it visits Haverford College. The opening faceoff is slated for 11:30am.
