US Lacrosse announced this week that The Relentless Games, a two-day event operated by HEADstrong Sports, a division of the HEADstrong Foundation, as a US Lacrosse Sanctioned Tournament.
The US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program represents an initiative to raise the quality of the youth tournament experience and publicize events that meet operational criteria developed by US Lacrosse and industry experts.
The Relentless Games brings together male and female lacrosse players of all ages for a weekend of competition Oct. 17-18, 2020 at DE Turf in Milford, Del. Profits from the event will be donated to the HEADstrong Foundation to further the mission of improving lives affected by cancer.
“The HEADstrong Foundation is proud to have the RELENTLESS Games as an US Lacrosse Sanctioned event,” said Tom Sinott, director of sports operations at HEADstrong Foundation. “We are excited to continue to spread the mission of the HEADstrong Foundation through the sport we all love.”
In order to help address the need for tournament standardization, the US Lacrosse Sanctioning Program provides an operational framework to create a more consistent experience for athletes. Sanctioned tournaments have been deemed by the sport’s national governing body to meet best-practice standards in five categories: venue, game format, risk management, tournament administration, and the use of certified US Lacrosse officials.
“We’re really excited to partner with the HEADstrong Foundation and add The Relentless Games into our event sanctioning program,” said J.P. Fischer, senior manager for sanctioning and events at US Lacrosse. “Throughout the sanctioning process, they’ve demonstrated their commitment to providing a positive and safe experience for all participants, all while working towards the greater mission of improving lives affected by cancer. We look forward to our continued work together.”
