3/31/08 – Girls’ lacrosse roundup: Archbishop Carroll downs Conestoga

Olivia Salata scored four goals while Gabby Capuzzi and Annie Brophy added three apiece as visiting Archbishop Carroll topped Conestoga, 11-6, Monday in non-league girls’ action.

Melissa DiTomo also scored for the Patriots (2-0), ranked seventh in the Top 10 Poll. Goalie Megan Corliss posted five saves for Carroll.

Eighth-ranked Conestoga, making its season opener, got a pair of goals from Murphee Greeley and one each from Taylor Mallory, Christina Fiorentino, Kaitlin Hildebrand and Brooke Campbell. Kim Shoup had five saves.

Cardinal O’Hara 6, Lower Merion 4

Amanda Mattera and Megan George scored two goals each and Steph McCoy and Julia Costello had one apiece to help the Lions top the host Aces.

3/31/10 – College women: Temple stuns No. 18 Princeton, 14-12, behind three hat tricks

Stephanie Markunas (Ridley), Ann Stouffer and Charlotte Swavola (Cheltenham) each scored hat tricks today as the Temple women’s lacrosse team stunned 17th-ranked Princeton, 14-12, today in non-league women’s lacrosse.

Temple (4-5) had gone 0-11 against Princeton since 1998. The Owls trailed early on in today’s contest, but a string of six goals in the middle of the first half gave Temple a lead it would not relinquish.

Chelsea Rosiek (Wissahickon) also scored twice for the Owls. Princeton fell to 4-5.

3/31/12 – Saturday’s girls’ lacrosse wrap: Mount St. Joseph, Arch. Carroll lose tough games, Conestoga splits at AmLax tourney in Florida

Mount St. Joseph and Archbishop Carroll opened play this morning with tough losses to top-ranked teams in the prestigious AmLax Challenge in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Meanwhile, Conestoga toppled Bishop Moore (Fla.), 14-5. The Pioneers also fell to St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (VA) 11-6, later in the day.

The Mount (2-1) fell to Georgia power Milton (8-0), 13-9, despite four goals by Natalie Bohner. The Magic next play undefeated Holy Child (Md.) tomorrow.

Olivia Gannon had two goals and Laura Pacheco and Emily Ehret led the Mount’s midfield with 5 groundballs and 5 draw controls each.
