5/4/09 – Scholastic wrap: Lower Merion wins seventh straight; St. Joe’s Prep, Upper Dublin, Malvern Prep earn victories

Andrew Mongeluzzi collected four goals and an assist and Jordan Wolf had three goals and three assists to lead host Lower Merion to an 8-3 non-league boys’ lacrosse victory over Archbishop Wood Monday.
Matt Dilks added one goal and Cody Hornung posted 10 saves in goal for the Aces (11-4), who won their seventh straight game and are ranked No. 9 in the PA Media Rankings.
Mike Maxwell scored two goals for the Vikings (9-4) and goalie Ben Worthington had 11 saves.
St. Joseph’s Prep 11, Emmaus 9
Brendan Glynn and Colin Fleming each had three goals and Ian Correia and Jeff Heath had two apiece as the host Hawks (11-1) held off the Green Hornets (11-4). Kenny Lankford had a goal and two assists for The Prep, ranked No. 2 in the PA Media Rankings. Tate Klidonas led the Green Hornets with four goals.
5/4/10 – Men’s college roundup: Widener advances in MAC playoffs, Eastern foiled in OT by Messiah, Kupecki (U. Merion)

Widener received many strong efforts, including standout play from sophomore Nick Fluharty (Avon Grove) in a 14-10 victory over host Lycoming in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament Monday in Williamsport.
Sixth-seeded Widener (8-9) is in the semifinals for the 10th straight year, a run only interrupted by the fact there was no MAC Tournament in 2000. The Pride on Wednesday look to continue to their road magic at top-seeded Elizabethtown, beginning at 4:00 pm.
Widener improved to 18-3 in this tournament that includes 6-0 against Lycoming and is 7-1 in its last eight tournament games on the road. The Pride have eliminated the Warriors three consecutive years in Williamsport, including the previous two in the semifinals.
5/4/10 – Tuesday’s boys’ scholastic roundup: Hatboro-Horsham downs CB East; La Salle tops Emmaus

Ryan Kreston and Kyle Schwartz each had a goal and an assist as visiting Hatboro-Horsham defeated Central Bucks East, 6-5, to force a tie for first place today in the Suburban One Continental Conference.
Both teams are now 8-1 in the league. The Hatters are 11-3 overall while the Patriots – ranked sixth in the PA Media Rankings – fall to 11-2.
Brendan Coleman led the Pats with two goals.
La Salle 8, Emmaus 4
Dan Losier and Christian Cardinal each scored twice for the Explorers in the non-league win.
5/4/11 – Boys’ lacrosse: Undefeated New Hope-Solebury clinched BAL title Tuesday with 11-10 win over Holy Ghost Prep

It may come as a surprise to many that the only undefeated boys’ lacrosse team in District 1 is New Hope-Solebury.
New Hope-Solebury is off to a 12-0 start and has clinched the Bicentennial League title
On Tuesday the host Lions improved to 12-0 and clinched the Bicentennial Athletic League championship by edging Holy Ghost Prep, 11-10.
The victory raised New Hope’s league mark to 7-0, dropping Ghost to 4-2. The Lions also topped Ghost by a single goal in their first meeting, a 10-9 overtime win on April 14. That was the first time New Hope-Solebury had ever defeated Holy Ghost Prep.
On Tuesday John Cimbalista had three goals – including gthe game-winner with 3:03 to play – and Jeff Cimbalista added two goals and an assist while Jonathan Otto had a goal and four assists and Connor Lemmons scored twice.
5/4/14 – Boys’ lacrosse: @Fords_Lacrosse dedicates scorer’s table, wins 15-7 for Kip Taviano (#10VE)

It was a special day for The Haverford School lacrosse community.
The host Fords claimed a 15-7 victory today over a strong Central Bucks East squad as Grant Ament had three goals and seven assists. But the big news occurred at halftime when the Fords dedicated their scorer’s table to Kip Taviano, a popular senior member of last year’s team who died in a car accident shortly before his senior graduation last May.
Taviano’s family – parents Jim and Ellen, twin sister, Maggie and sister, Emma – joined the Fords team and other close friends for the dedication. Haverford School coach John Nostrant gave an inspirational speech.
“We knew coach Nostrant was going to do this and that the Tavianos would be there,” said Ament. “We had to put on a good show and come out with a win.”
The Fords – 16-4 and ranked No. 2 by Phillylacrosse.com – broke open a 4-4 game by outscoring the No. 6 Patriots, 6-1, in the second period.
5/4/14 – Men’s Ivy League championship: @PennMensLax defeats Harvard for title, automatic NCAA berth

The University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team completed its run to the Ivy League Tournament title on Sunday afternoon, using an amazing defensive effort to shut down Harvard, 7-5, at Harvard Stadium.
So the Quakers move to 11-3 overall, and extend their winning streak to eight games which matches the longest since 1988. Penn will await its NCAA Championship fate tonight; the NCAA selection show will air at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.
Penn held Harvard (10-6) without a goal for 44 minutes and 58 seconds from the first quarter to the fourth, a stunning display that allowed the Quakers to overcome an early four-goal deficit and its own lengthy offensive drought (21:29).
Both teams had a few possessions without a goal to start the game, before Daniel Eipp opened the scoring for the Crimson with a shot from the left side that beat Brian Feeney up top. Carl Zimmerman found success a few minutes later from nearly the same spot, taking a feed from Brendan Newman and beating Feeney over the left shoulder.

1. Haverford School (20-0) Prev: No. 1 The Fords can complete a perfect regular season with wins over Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (Tuesday) and Malvern Prep (Friday).
2. Hun School (13-0) Prev: No. 2 The Raiders play at Hill School on Wednesday.
3. Episcopal Academy (12-5) Prev: No. 4 The Churchmen will look to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Inter-Ac Challenge when they face Malverm Prep Tuesday and Penn Charter Friday.
4. St. Augustine Prep (10-3) Prev: No. 3 The Hermits host 10-1 Moorestown on Tuesday.
5/4/19 – Ursinus completes miraculous run by topping Gettysburg for first Centennial crown
