The Duke’s Lacrosse Club has announced the addition of three of the area’s elite scholastic coaches as part of a restructuring of the region’s longest tenured club program.

Duke’s President Ebe Helm has added Springfield-Delco’s Tom Lemieux, La Salle’s Rob Forster and Academy of the New Church’s Jack Forster as coachers and co-directors. Helm also announced that Duke’s is expanding beyond high school age classes to include middle school and youth teams down to the 2030 level for 2020-21. The news comes as Duke’s LC prepares for its 2020-21 Tryouts/Evals on Saturday and Sunday August 29-30 at the Folsom Boys Club in Ridley Park, and on Sept. 2 at Springfield’s Halderman Field (see details below).

New Coach/Co-Director bios:

  • Tom Lemieux has been head coach at Springfield-Delco since 2011 and has a 150-54 career record, including PIAA championships in 2016 (last year of only one classification) and 2017 (Class AA). He was the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Coach of the Year in 2016.
  • Rob Forster is entering his second year as head coach at La Salle. He had spent two years as an assistant at Penn after serving as head coach at Academy of the New Church for five seasons in which he won the Friends Schools League title each year and posted a 76-20 record, earning Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention Coach of the Year in 2016.
  • Jack Forster is entering his second year as head coach at ANC, where he led the Lions (20-4) to the Friends Schools title and a berth in the National Prep Championships semifinals in 2019. He was the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Coach of the Year in 2019. Jack Forster replaced brother Rob as director of the Duke’s Young Guns in 2019. The Young guns provided middle school divisions as a feeder program for Duke’s LC high school teams.

“Duke’s LC for 20-plus years has been an elite club program in the Greater Delaware Valley Region while also drawing players nationally,” said Helm. “The alumni include Tucker Durkin, Jordan Wolf, Matt Rambo and Grant Ament – some of the world’s top stars – and many other top players.

NEW COACHES, CO-DIRECTORS: From left, Rob Forster, Tom Lemieux, President Ebe Helm, and Jack Forster.

“Now we are building on that with the addition of these special coaches. Their passion, heart, care, and strength of character are things that every player and parent/family should want from a coach as well for their sons.”

“These coaches/individuals will be acting as mentors, teachers and incredible lacrosse minds. They and many more coaches to be announced will provide superior coaching and teaching while always embracing the Duke’s Mission Statement of being better persons then they are players; always making the classroom and education primary, and ussing lacrosse as a vehicle to a college education no matter how incredible a player may be on the field.”
