Duke’s Elite claimed the 2023 A South championship Sunday at the Victory Events Liberty National Elite at Cedar Lane Park with a 7-3 win over Resolite Cincinnati..
Duke’s jumped out to a 3-0 lead on two goals by Sean Donaldson and one by Ford Norris. Ricky Savage led the attack with three goals and a vastly improved defense, led by Grayson Dee and the goalie play of Brian May and Seamus Deviney kept Resolute from making a run.
Dukes reached the finals by gutting out a last-second semi-final win, 5-4, over Rock (MD). Donaldson’s howitzer tied the game with under a minute left. Owen Bosak won the faceoff and then scored the game-winner in the last 10 seconds.
Two Duke’s Elite teams also reached the championship rounds in the 2021 and 2022 AA divisions before bowing in the title games.
Also, 10 Duke’s LC players were Named All-Stars from Friday’s Liberty National Showcase. See the full list of All-Showcase players here.
