#BStrong tournament in Gilbertsville on Saturday, November 21 for boys’ teams in the age groups 2029/30, 2028, 2027, 2026, 2025, and 2023/24. What is #BStrong? On July 14th, Brendan Avvento, a 2024 goalie with Mesa Lacrosse, collapsed on the lacrosse field during an afternoon practice. Thanks to some quick acting by well-trained coaches and staff on the premises, Brendan was able to get immediate medical attention that kept him alive until he could be transported to the hospital. Brendan suffered a life-threatening blood clot to his brain followed by cardiac arrest. Over the past two months, Brendan has made incredible strides towards recovery. The #BStrong tournament is a celebration of lacrosse, community and the unbreakable human spirit. The festivities will include food trucks, vendors, raffles and, of course, great lacrosse. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Avvento family and provide funds to local youth organizations to provide CPR and AED training and equipment. Registration is set at $600 per team. Schedules and start times to be determined once registration is complete. Tournament format and scheduling is subject to change in case of inclement weather. Tournament location is Windelstrae Fields, 132 Chalet Rd, Gilbertsville, PA 19525. There will be Varsity and JV divisions. Teams will play in a round robin format in a morning or afternoon time slot. Directors are still discussing 7v7 and 10v10 format across the age groups based on player availability. State and local COVID-19 rules and guidelines will be in place.
