Reid Bowering scored six goals and Ross Blumenthal made 14 saves as Drexel defeated No. 14 Villanova, 15-12, at Sweeney Field on the campus of Saint Joseph’s University in the second day of the Philly 4 Lacrosse Classic.
Drexel (3-3) trailed by a goal midway through the fourth quarter, but scored four unanswered goals down the stretch.

Bowering now has 20 goals this season and 122 in his career. He is tied for second all-time at Drexel in career goals with Tom Charno, who played from 1983-1987. Matthew Varian handed out four assists and also had a goal. The senior now has 166 career points, which is eighth all-time at Drexel. Varian passed Bob Hoover, Ryan Belka and Jeff Miller in today’s win. Jack Mulcahy had a goal and two assists, while Casey Waller scored a pair of goals and finished with three points.
The Dragons were a perfect 15-for-15 on their clear attempts and committed just 11 turnovers against Villanova. The Wildcats, who came into the game with two top 10 wins including a 12-10 win against No. 9 Penn Friday, were led by Patrick Daly, who had two goals to go along with five assists.
