Villanova senior Connor Kirst, redshirt junior Patrick Kennedy, junior Keegan Khan, and sophomore Will Vitton have been selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats have been selected by the BIG EAST head coaches to finish second in the league in the 2020 Preseason Coaches’ Poll, receiving 22 points and one two place vote.

All four Wildcats were unanimous selections to the BIG EAST Preseason Team and all earned spots on the 2019 BIG EAST Regular Season teams.

Kirst, who just a day ago was named to the Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Second Team was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year just a season ago. Last season the midfielder finished tied with a team high 50 points on 31 goals and 19 assists. In the beginning of the season the junior netted back-to-back overtime game winners against Yale and then Hofstra. Kirst has netted a goal in 14 straight games this season, including a season high five against Drexel.

Kennedy last season picked up his postseason accolade when he was named to the All-BIG EAST Second team. In 2019 Kennedy had 27 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers in 15 games.

Khan was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2018 and 2019. The attackman led the Wildcats offense against conference competition last season with 21 points on 10 goals and 11 assists. In back-to-back games against Marquette and Denver, the sophomore picked up five points, while finishing with four against St. John’s and Providence, and three against Georgetown.

Vitton earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team after helping the Wildcats pick up seven wins in goal in 2019. The then rookie became the Wildcats starting goalkeeper at the beginning of March and boasted a 11.37 goals against average and .518 save percentage. Vitton had a career high 19 saves during the Wildcat’s 12-11 win over the Denver Pioneers.

The six men’s lacrosse members of the BIG EAST participate in a five-game, single round-robin format, playing each opponent once each year. The 2020 season BIG EAST Championship which will be held on April 30th and May 2nd at Providence College. The top four teams in the conference standings determined and seeded by winning percentage in conference play at the conclusion of the regular season, will advance to compete in the postseason.

The Wildcats will open the season on February 8th against Penn State. Game time is slated for 1:00 P.M. inside Villanova Stadium.
