From Press Release
The Monmouth University men’s lacrosse team has been picked to finish fifth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Annual Preseason Coaches’ Poll, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Monmouth (37 points) finished behind Marist (63) and head coach Keegan Wilkinson (St. Joseph’s University) in the poll, as the Red Foxes were chosen to repeat as MAAC Champions. Behind Marist was Detroit Mercy (49), third was Quinnipiac (42) and Canisius (41) was fourth. Siena (26), Manhattan (22) and St. Bonaventure (8) rounded out the ballot.
“Each year within our conference there is not much that separates the top teams so we don’t get caught up in preseason rankings. Our focus is on getting better each day and competing at a high level,” Monmouth head coach Brian Fisher (Ridley grad) said.
In addition, a pair of juniors, Rudy Beck and Chris Hervada (Haverford School) were each honored with a spot on the Preseason All-MAAC Team. Beck and Hervada were each first team selections in 2019.
“We are glad that Rudy and Chris have been recognized by the conference as they have been two of our key contributors the last couple of seasons,” Fisher added. “Furthermore, we are looking forward to the season ahead with a lot of veteran returners that have been playing well this preseason.”
