From Press Release
Catholic University men’s lacrosse sophomore Joey Rockovich (Central Bucks West) was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after totaling nine points and six assists in two road games last week at Hampden-Sydney and Arcadia.
This is the first career weekly honor for Rockovich and the third for the Cardinals in the last two seasons. Vince Catenacci was named Offensive Player of the Week on April 1, 2019 while Mike McShea was named Defensive Player of the Week on April 8, 2019.
Rockovich led the team in both points and assists last week. He finished with five points, including a career-high four assists in an 11-10 victory at Arcadia where he found sophomore Sean Baudo for the game-winning goal with 3:05 remaining in overtime.
Rockovich followed that honor up Wednesday by collecting two goals and six assists as Catholic posted a convincing 18-4 victory over local rival Marymount (VA) at Carlini Field.
Catholic (2-3) picked up its second consecutive win and sixth-straight against the Saints.
Rockovich is the first player since Connor Kelly on April 9, 2006 to have at least six assists in a game. Rockovich is also the first Cardinal to have at least eight points in a game since Bennett Bradley had eight goals and nine points in a 14-13 win over Elizabethtown at home on April 28, 2018.
Rockovich had one goal and six assists as Catholic jumped out to a 10-0 lead with 12:06 remaining in the second quarter.
Rockovich, who also had two goals and two assists at Hampden-Sydney, currently leads the team with 23 points and 15 assists this season.
