From Press Release
The Cabrini women’s lacrosse team is expected to continue its control of the Atlantic East Conference, as the league’s coaches have selected the Cavaliers as the league’s 2020 favorite.
The Blue and White received 33 total points including four first place votes to earn the top spot over Marywood, who claimed 32 votes, including the three remaining first place nods.
The Pacers and Cavaliers played a pair of spirited contests in 2019, with Marywood ending Cabrini’s 58 game conference win streak with a 15-14 win at Edith Robb Dixon Field on April 3.
The Cavaliers collected their revenge in the conference championship, using a pair of 8-0 spurts to top the Pacers 21-6, earning the program’s eighth consecutive conference crown.
Marymount finished third in the preseason poll with 28 votes, just ahead of Neumann, who claimed 20 votes. Immaculata and Gwynedd Mercy tied for fifth with 14 votes, while Wesley’s six votes were good for seventh.
Head coach Jackie Neary returns a deep and talented group, including four players who earned All-Atlantic East Conference First Team honors in 2019.
Reigning Atlantic East Rookie of the Year Dana Carlson returns to lead the offense after joining junior Ashley Tutzauer with 90 points each, while classmate Taylor Dimmerling will look to improve on last season’s 61 total points.
Sophomore Shea Neary, who earned All-ECAC First Team honors in 2019, will lead the Blue and White defensive effort after pairing 79 ground balls and 59 caused turnovers as a rookie, both falling just shy of program records.
The Cavaliers will open the 2020 campaign on Feb. 18 when they visit Albright College. The season opening draw is slated for 4pm in Reading, PA.
