From Press Release

Registration is open for one of the elite boys’ lacrosse showcases in the South and beyond, the Southern Select Lacrosse Showcase on June 18-20 at Clemson University, Clemson, SC.

The event, in its ninth year, will feature a 4-to-1 ratio of participants to college coaches. Directors hold the cap of players to 200 for the 3-day event, which will draw in coaches from some of the top lacrosse programs in the country, at all levels.

The founders, former college and pro standout Chris Schiller and legendary Canadian player Brodie Merrill, had two major goals when they launched the showcase:

“Provide a superior recruiting environment in which our players could thrive and succeed; they would be able to showcase their skills among a small group of talented players, in front of a maximum number of college coaches. More importantly, help the players become individuals who are committed to giving back, not just to the game itself, but also to their families and communities.”

Schiller, a co-director now with Cornell coach Peter Milliman, said the Showcase players will receive the specialized attention and exposure that is rare in lacrosse showcases. Also, the Clemson venue is considered one of the best in the South, and beyond.

“We run an old-school recruiting event,” said Schiller, who resides in the region. “We wanted to give the kids the best looks possible. Instead of sending them to tournaments up North with 50 to 100 teams spread out on multiple fields where the chance of college coaches being on their field is slim, we wanted to develop chances for really good looks.

“I live in Charlotte and I am ingrained down here. We want players to remain local and not have to go north to get recruited. We’ve hired a variety of coaches from all levels and every team will have 4 to 5 college coaches instructing and coaching them. The kids will be treated like college players with elite instruction. You’ll get the complete college experience at a top-flight venue that is ideal for the event.”

Schiller said although the majority of players are from the Southern region, the event has drawn players from Canada, the Mid-Atlantic and Texas, among other areas.

On staff for the 2019 showcase will be coaches from Jacksonville, Penn St, Towson, UNC, St. Joseph’s, Cornell, Army, Navy, Lehigh as well as many Division II and III schools.

Below are testimonials:

“It is in my opinion, one of the best, and I will continue to recommend it. Your showcase teaches our southern boys that there are excellent college opportunities out there for them if they want to strive for another level.”

“There are so many showcases to choose from and it is hard as a parent to know which is the right one. Our son will return next year and he will be telling his friends and high school team about it.”

“We appreciate the excellence with which you ran this showcase experience! From communication beforehand to the logistics and execution of the showcase days, y’all did an awesome job!”

“I was impressed with the tone and message that you and your staff were conveying; that it is not always all about lacrosse per se, but the character with which you present yourself and being a good teammate.”
