The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League will open the 2019-20 season with a three-game road trip on Saturday, December 14, when the team travels to Georgia to face-off against the Swarm at 7 p.m.

The Wings will open the home portion of their schedule on Friday, January 10 at 7 p.m. against the Vancouver Warriors at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Wings are offering a new three-game Pick ‘Em Plan which includes a ticket to opening night and two additional games starting as low as $51 per seat. The Wings three-game Pick ‘Em Plan is available online at or by calling 215-952-LAX1.

The Wings, who returned to the NLL last season under new ownership and leadership after a five-year hiatus, are anxious to get the season started.

“It has been a productive off season for the Wings,” said Wings GM Paul Day. “Both our veteran players and new free agents saw a lot of success on the field and we’re excited to get the team back together and ready to play in front of our fans at the Wells Fargo Center.”

The Wings 2019-20 roster is highlighted by Philadelphia-native Matt Rambo (La Salle, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy assistant coach, Duke’s LC assistant coach, an NLL All-Rookie selection and nominee for Lacrosse Player of the Year (US Lacrosse magazine); Trevor Baptiste, who broke the NLL’s face-off record with 362 wins and was also named to the NLL All-Rookie team; Captain Kiel Matisz, forward Josh Currier, and point leader Kevin Crowley.

Brett Hickey, the 2019 number one expansion draft pick and offensive leader, is expected to play this year after missing last season due to injury.

The Wings bolstered their offense for 2019-20 by acquiring three-time NLL champion Cory Vitarelli, who in 122 career regular-season appearances accumulated 327 points (192 goals and 135 assists), and got bigger and faster on defense with the addition of two-time NLL champion and veteran defenseman Ian Llord, and Saskatchewan defenseman Nick Finlay.

Many of the Wings players also competed during the NLL’s off season at either the Canadian Lacrosse Association Mann Cup where Wings Assistant Coach Tracey Kelusky and GM Paul Day lead Peterborough Lakers to the Championship; the Premiere Lacrosse League where Rambo (league and playoff MVP), Baptiste and Wings teammate Blaze Riorden were named All-Stars; or the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship where Rambo, Baptiste, Riorden, and Wings teammate Gowah Abrams represented Team USA in capturing the bronze.
