From Press Release
The 27th Annual Philadelphia Lacrosse Association Golf Outing took place on October 28 at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill. Seventy-four golfers and 37 corporate and individual sponsors enjoyed blue skies and late fall foliage and vistas on a gorgeous “Indian Summer” day and helped the PLA raised over $15,000 to further the PLA’s mission.
The event supports the PLA’s nonprofit mission to promote the game in the Philadelphia region. Proceeds from last year’s outing enabled the PLA to:
• Support the PIAA Public Lacrosse League and youth and middle programs in Philly;
• Provide a $10K grant to underwrite men’s and women’s club programs at Lincoln University;
• Sponsor the 6th Annual PLA High School Awards Banquet;
• Support the HEADstring Project – http://www.headstringproject.com;
• Host the PA Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2019; and
• Conduct/sponsor high school and youth coaches’ clinics.
The PLA Golf Outing this year was held in “In Loving Memory” of dear friends in the lacrosse community who passed away since the 2018 golf classic last October, including Bobby Erwine, Ria Filippelli, Susan Mills, Bradley Stephen Perz, Anne Sage, Peter Samson, and Matthew Benjamin Scott.
