High School: Jenkintown High School
League: Bicentennial Athletic League
Coach: Bob Cummings, 1st year
Last year’s record: 11-6 Record, BAL Champions, Made it to the first round of District 1A Playoffs
Key returnees: Izzy Byler, Mia Kolb, Caroline Arena, Georgia Griffin
Others to watch: Rory Strohm, Carly Mulvaney, Tanner Lafferty, Sam Pizer
Coach’s outlook for 2019 season: “We want to have continued success in our league and make a deeper run in the District Playoffs.”
High School: New Hope-Solebury
League: Bicentennial
Coach: Betsy Dougherty (V), This will be 5th year as head coach
Rory Yerkes (JV), This will be 3rd year as assistant
Last year’s record: 11-5 overall, 5-1 league. Shared BAL title with Jenkintown. First year to make it to the playoffs! Lost to Upper Moreland 11-12.
Key returnees:
Junior Carolyn Thistlewaite – 1st team all BAL. Leading scorer and all around solid player. Looks to dominate again this year.
Sophomore Kate Dougherty – 1st team all BAL. 2nd leading scorer and leader in draw controls.
Senior captains Zoe Palau and Amy Hutwelker – Zoe will anchor the defense and Amy will direct the offense.
Others to watch:
Junior Maggie Devito on offense and Sophomores Rachel Saxton and Lilly Smith in the midfield.
Outlook: “We have a relatively young team, but several of them are experienced from playing Varsity last year. Hoping to build on earning an invite to post season play last year and continuing our success in the BAL and beyond.”
