The Navy women’s lacrosse team – coached by legendary Cindy Timchal (Haverford High, West Chester) – added 10 members to its 2020 roster with the addition of the Class of 2023. The freshmen joined the roster over Plebe Summer and have competed with the team throughout the fall season.
The Class of 2023 includes Eloise Gebert (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.), Maggie Aumiller (Crownsville, Md.), Gina Barbera (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), Erin Carson (New Albany, Ohio), Maggie Cleary (Dunwoody, Ga.), Athena Corroon (Greenwich, Conn.), Casey Feinstein (Reisterstown, Md.), Zayda Fredericks (Sarasota, Fla.), Gabby Lavin (Gambrills, Md.), and Charlotte Ryan (Tully, N.Y.).
Gebert lettered in lacrosse (4 years) and field hockey (3) at Owen J. Roberts. She led the Wildcats to the League Championship in lacrosse (2016, ’17, ’18, ’19), while helping the field hockey team to League Championships in 2015, ’16, and, ’18 with a District Championship in 2018. Gebert earned All-American and First-Team All-Phillylacrosse.com accolades in lacrosse in 2019, while receiving Academic All-American distinction in 2018 and 2019. She was tabbed League MVP in 2019. Gebert played club lacrosse with Phantastix. In addition, she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Leo Club.
Aumiller lettered in lacrosse (4 years) and basketball (4) at St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis, Md. She earned the McCormick Unsung Hero Award in lacrosse as a senior. Aumiller finished as one of Anne Arundel County’s top scoring leaders (2018, ’19). She was named team captain for lacrosse (2019) and basketball (2019). In addition, Aumiller was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council (class representative 2018-19), and Interact Club (secretary), while being on the Principal Honor Roll (2015-19).
Barbera lettered in lacrosse (6 years) and field hockey (4) at Connetquot High School in Bohemia, N.Y. She was named All-County three times in lacrosse and selected as team MVP (two times) and team captain (two times) for lacrosse. Barbera earned All-Division distinction in field hockey twice. She played club lacrosse with the Long Island Yellow Jackets. In addition, Barbera was a member of National Honor Society, Athletes Helping Athletes, and Student Government.
Carson lettered in lacrosse (4 years) and soccer (4) at New Albany High School in New Albany, Ohio. She finished as State Championship Runner-Up in lacrosse in 2018 and 2019, while earning First Team All-State (2018) and First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) (2016, ’17, ’18, ’19), and garnering Academic All-Ohio (2016, ’17, ’18, ’19). Carson was named team captain for lacrosse (2018, ’19) and soccer (2018, ’19). She played club lacrosse with Midwestern Force Lax. In addition, Carson was a member of the Key Club, Environmental Club (secretary), Science Olympiad, Ohio Model United Nations (OMUN), and Orchestra.
Cleary lettered in lacrosse and basketball at St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta, Ga. She helped team to Regional Championship as a senior. Cleary earned All-State accolades in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and selected as team MVP in 2015 and 2017. Cleary was named team captain as a senior in 2017. She played club lacrosse with Eagle STX. Cleary spent the 2017-18 academic year at the Peddie School in Hightstown, N.J., which is a Naval Academy Foundation school and attended Georgia State University in hometown of Atlanta during the 2018-19 academic year.
Corroon lettered in lacrosse (4 years) and soccer (3) at Sacred Heart Greenwich in Greenwich, Conn. She led the Tigers to the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) Championship. Corroon was selected All-League four times (2016, ’17, ’18, ’19), while earning US Lacrosse All-American accolades (2019), Under Armour All-American New England Highlight Team (2017) and Under Armour All-American CONNY Highlight Team (2018). She was a member of the Connecticut National Team 1 (2016, ’17, ’18) and was selected to the WPLL Futures New England Team (2018). Corroon was named team captain for lacrosse (2019) and soccer (2018). She played club lacrosse with Connecticut Grizzlies. In addition, Corroon was a member of the Student Council Green Team (captain).
Feinstein competed in lacrosse, soccer and indoor track and field at Roland Park Country School in Baltimore, Md. She was selected as team captain for lacrosse as a senior (2019). In addition, Feinstein participated in strongman and powerlifting competitions, earning Maryland’s Strongest Woman (teen) in the 2017 Strongman competition, while setting state records in the squat, bench press, and deadlift in powerlifting (2014-19). In addition, she was President of Young Conservatives, while also serving as Athletic Association Representative. Feinstein was a member of the Arabic Honor Society and Cum Laude Society.
Fredricks competed in lacrosse at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. She lettered for four years in lacrosse. Fredricks earned All-American at the Brine All-America Games (2016-17). She competed in swimming for two years at Riverview High School. Fredricks graduated with high honors and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (vice president). She was an avid traveler as a student ambassador visiting every continent except Antarctica.
Lavin lettered in lacrosse (4 years) and soccer at Arundel High School in Gambrills, Md. She earned All-County accolades in lacrosse in 2017 (second team), 2018 (first team), and 2019 (first team). Lavin was named lacrosse team captain (2017-19). In addition, she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, National Social Studies Honor Society, Athletic Leadership Council, and Student Council (class president).
Ryan lettered in lacrosse (5 years), soccer (4), and basketball at LaFayette Jr./Sr. High School in LaFayette, N.Y. She earned All-American accolades as a senior (2019), while taking home First Team All-League distinction all four years of high school (2016, ’17, ’18, ’19), receiving Academic All-American honors for lacrosse in 2018 and 2019. Ryan was named First Team All-League for basketball (2017, ’18, ’19) and soccer (2017, ’19). She played club lacrosse for the Salt City Snipers. In addition, Ryan was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council (class president), Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, Yearbook, and Tech Institute.
