From Press Release
Creating a tradition by bringing together two of the area’s top boys’ high school lacrosse programs, Coaches John Nostrant (The Haverford School) and Frank Urso (Garnet Valley) have joined to play an annual game for the 10VE Cup.
The inaugural 10VE (LOVE) CUP game will played be on Tuesday, April 16th at 7:30 p.m. at Garnet Valley High School. The annual game will honor the memory of Kip Taviano. Taviano, who played lacrosse for Coach Urso at Brandywine Youth Club and for Coach Nostrant at The Haverford School, lost his life in an automobile accident on May 28, 2013.
Currently, Haverford School (7-3) is the top-ranked team by Phillylacrosse.com, followed by Garnet Valley (6-0).
Said Jim Taviano, Kip’s father “John and I had some conversations off and on about the possibility of such a game to be played annually. John reached out to Frank who was onboard and has been very supportive. In fact, the reaction from everyone we’ve spoken to about the game has been very positive.”
There will be a short pregame presentation to each of the coaches.
The game will alternate between the 2 schools annually with the Cup being held by the winner until the next year. It will be engraved with the winning school’s name and year.
