Alex Almonte, Kellie Ann Matey, Madison Henry, Amber Germer, Kiley Mottice and Karli Dougherty led a balanced attack as Archbishop Carroll claimed its 19th straight Catholic League championship tonight by defeating Cardinal O’Hara, 20-6, at Neumann University.
Carroll (15-4), which already has earned the top Class AA seed in the PIAA tournament, will open state play May 28 vs. the District 1 fourth-place finished.
O’Hara will meet a Public League foe Wednesday for the District 12 Class AAA championship. The winner advances to the PIAA tournament.
Almonte (4g, 3a), Matey (4g, 1a, 3dc), Germer (3g, 3a, 2gb), Mottice (3g, 1a, 1gb), Henry (3g, 5a, 4dc, 1ct) and Dougherty (2g, 5dc, 1a, 1ct, 4gb) helped Carroll to an 11-4 halftime lead.
Rylie McGowan and Mia Scarduzio each scored two goals for O’Hara.
