Nick Braendel scored with 39 seconds left in overtime to lift visiting Conestoga to a 10-9 thriller over Malvern Prep in a non-league boys’ contest featuring two top-ranked teams.

The Pioneers (No, 6 in the Phillylacrosse.com Rankings) won their 11th straight game and improved to 13-4. The Friars, ranked No 3, fell to 11-5.

Conestoga led, 9-7, late in the third period when Scottie White tallied his second to pull Malvern within 9-8. Jack Traynor (two goals, one assist) tied it midway through the final period. Braendel (two goals) won it after coming around the goal from X.

Tate Kienzle led Conestoga with two goals and two assists while James Reilly dominated at the X by winning 17 of 21 faceoffs and adding one goal.

Seamus Glynn and Quinn McCahon each had two goals and two assists for the Friars.

Conestoga can wrap up a perfect Central League season by winning Tuesday at home vs. Lower Merion.
