Pennridge 2018 goalie P.J. Matkowski has been named the Pansini Law Group Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the first award winner of the season.
The award recognizes senior and junior lacrosse players that excel in academics, service and athletics.

P.J. Matkowski
School: Pennridge
Year: 2018
Position: faceoff specialist
Immediate plans: Enlisting in the Marine Corps
Lax club team: Phillie Elite
Extracurricular Activities: Freshman basketball, lacrosse, and National Honor Society.
Community/Service Organizations and projects: Volunteered and donated to a local ASPCA-type organization.
Athletic honors: Unsung hero (freshman year), defensive player of the year (sophomore year), Unsung Hero and Honorable Mention All-Suburban One (junior year).
What are your college/service/future goals?
Matkowski: “My future goals are to become a United States Marine, and then graduate college with a degree in science.”
How do you describe leadership?
Matkowski: “Leadership to me doesn’t necessarily mean leading by words, but more by actions, and I think it takes a strong will to be a good leader. Also, I believe a leader is born with the ability; it is not something you can teach.”
How do you balance lacrosse, school, and extracurriculars?
Matkowski: “I balance school, lacrosse, and the gym by keeping a schedule and not procrastinating. I try to work my hardest in everything I do, and don’t give up.”
