Occidental College’s Sierra Slack (Eastern-NJ) was named Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday.

The senior captain and attacker from Vorhees scored four goals and had three assists in a 19-7 win over Johnson & Wales (RI) at Jack Kemp Stadium on Tuesday.

Slack also earned the honor on Feb. 19 after leading Oxy past Redlands and Southwestern (Texas).

“We are excited for CC to be recognized as the Athlete of the Week after playing a well-rounded game,” Oxy head coach Stephanie Mark said. “Not only is she producing offensively with her fifth straight game with at least seven points, but she’s getting us so many possessions on the draw too which is huge to our team success.”

On Feb. 24, Slack collected seven goals and an assist, breaking the Occidental women’s lacrosse career points record as the Tigers dismantled Chapman 21-10 on the road on Saturday.

Slack passed Tori Larson’s ’14 previous record of 219 career points. Slack is a perennial All-SCIAC and All-Region selection who has started all 57 games in her career.

Slack is currently leading the Tigers with 24 goals this year and has a conference best 16 in SCIAC competition.

The Tigers are off to a hot start to the season currently at 4-1 overall and 2-1 in SCIAC play.
