From Press Release

Coach John Nostrant and Mesa Lacrosse are excited to announce the addition of Olde English Lacrosse to the Mesa family. Olde English is a leading youth travel program based in the 422 corridor and will serve as a platform to further Mesa’s mission of training and developing the area’s most passionate lacrosse players. Drawing players and families from four counties in the western suburbs, Olde English brings over 100 players and five teams that will play under the banner of Mesa Red beginning this upcoming 2018-19 travel season.

Mark Petrone, founder and Director of Mesa Lacrosse, talked about how this new partnership brings a host of opportunities for players in both programs.

“We’ve worked with OE for the past several years creating joint clinics and events for the younger age groups,” Petrone said. “Coming together gives us the chance to build on what we’ve done in the past. Whether it’s furthering individual player development programs, the expansion of our box lacrosse training, or the creation of Mesa Select teams to compete at the more elite events, we’re looking forward to creating a new experience for players and their families that can’t be rivaled anywhere else.”

For Coach Nostrant, expanding Mesa’s geographical footprint is part of recognizing and adapting to today’s youth lacrosse environment. “We recognize that distance and commute times are important for families when choosing the right travel program. We wanted to find the right partner who shares our passion and our mission and will help us bring the Mesa program to more players and their families. The team at OE has built a great program while staying loyal to the local township and rec programs – they’ve done things the right way.”

For Olde English, this is the right move at the perfect time, Program Director Travis Meredith said. “From day one, we promised our families that we would commit 100% of our time and energy to preparing our youth players for the next level and when the time was right, find the right partner to help us continue the developmental path,” he said.

“As our oldest teams are now in the thick of middle school, the opportunity to become part of a program with one of the area’s top high school programs was incredible. Furthermore, joining one of the area’s only programs that’s a member of the National Lacrosse Federation offers our most competitive players the chance to play at highest levels of the game. Together, we will be able to do so much to see these young players grow.”

As a combined organization, Mesa Lacrosse now becomes one of the largest youth player development program in Southeastern Pennsylvania with 2018-19 travel programs based out of Haverford (Mesa) and Phoenixville (Mesa Red).
