Lebanon Valley women’s lacrosse head coach Jackie Dando (Henderson alum, former Haverford College and Villanova assistant) has announced that Emma Jones, Kirsten Bannan, Brenna O’Neill, and Julia Brewer (Garnet Valley) will serve as team captains for the upcoming 2018 season.
For Jones, this will be her second consecutive campaign serving as team captain after doing so as a junior last spring. The midfielder started all 16 games for the Flying Dutchmen last spring and led the squad with 61 total points, 49 goals, 12 assists, and 49 draw controls. She was also strong on the defensive end and was tops on the team with 41 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers. For her efforts, Jones was pegged IWLCA Second-Team All-Region and MAC Commonwealth First-Team All-Conference for the second year in a row.
Bannan is coming off a junior campaign that saw her start all 16 games for LVC. She ranked third among Dutchmen with 28 total points and 23 goals. The attack added 10 draw controls, 11 caused turnovers, and eight ground balls. She also earned a spot on the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
O’Neill also had a strong junior season in 2017, appearing in all 16 games and starting all but one of them. The midfielder ranked fourth on the team with 13 total points thanks to nine markers and four assists. She also controlled five draws and scooped up nine ground balls.
Brewer emerged as one of LVC’s top defenders during a sophomore campaign that saw her start all 16 games on the back end. Her 21 ground balls were good enough to rank her fourth on the squad. She added six caused turnovers and three draw controls. She also earned a spot in the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
The Dutchmen open their 2018 season when they host Dickinson at Arnold Field on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 24.
