From Press Release
Chestnut Hill College headlined the inaugural Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll by being named as the No. 1 team.
The Griffins garnered three of the six available first-place votes and totaled 33 points to rank first in the 2018 standings forecast. The upcoming 2018 season will be the first in CACC history and will feature a six-team league comprised of Chestnut Hill College, fellow former East Coast Conference (ECC) member Dominican College, independent programs from Georgian Court University and Post University, as well as, a pair of first-year programs in Felician University and Wilmington University.
Dominican College earned two first-place votes and 27 total points to serve as Chestnut Hill College’s top competitor in the coaches poll. The remaining first-place vote was awarded to Post University (21 points), who ranked fourth in the preseason prediction, behind Georgian Court University (23), but ahead of Wilmington University (12), and Felician University (10).
On March 11, 2017, a 7-6 overtime win over ECC rival, #16 LIU Post triggered a 7-2 run that led Chestnut Hill College to the most successful season in program history; an 8-5 overall record and a 6-2 conference standing that positioned the #3 Griffins in an ECC Semifinal at #2 Mercy College on May 3. Unfortunately, the Scarlet and Gold fell on the short side of a 15-3 final that advanced the Mavericks to the ECC Championship. In 2018, Mike Terranova returns to the Chestnut Hill College sidelines as head coach. As an assistant coach under Brian Dougherty (2011-2017) and Richard Carrington (2009-2010), Terranova helped develop the Griffins from a first-year program into a consistent NCAA Division II competitor.
