The Cabrini men’s lacrosse team will open the 2018 season ranked among the best teams in the nation, according to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
The Cavaliers are ranked seventh in the organization’s preseason poll, released earlier this week.
The final four teams standing in the 2017 NCAA Tournament will begin atop the 2018 poll. Defending NCAA champion Salisbury claimed the poll’s top spot, followed by Wesleyan and RIT. Denison and York round out the top five. SUNY Cortland, Tufts, St. Lawrence and Amherst join Cabrini in spots 6-10.
The Blue and White opened the 2017 campaign ranked No. 8 and finished the season No. 9 in the final USILA poll.
Cabrini’s 2018 slate includes four opponents listed in the preseason poll. No. 12 Lynchburg will make an appearance at Edith Robb Dixon Field on Feb. 23, with No. 13 Dickinson making the trip from Carlisle one week later.
The Cavaliers will travel to No. 16 Stevenson on March 23 and pay a visit to No. 1 ranked Salisbury on April 7.
The Blue and White will open is 2018 schedule on Feb. 17, with its annual season-opener against Haverford. The Cavaliers and Fords will meet at Haverford’s Swan Field at 1pm.
Cabrini’s date with Lynchburg will mark the Cavaliers’ home opener, with the opening faceoff slated for 1 p.m.
