.@ANClacrosse tops Hun School in final seconds on Vandegrift goal; semis set for #NationalPrepChampionships

Academy of the New Church (16-5) will face North America’s top-ranked scholastic team, Culver Military Academy (22-0), in the first Semifinal game (5:00 PM) Friday of the National Prep Lacrosse Championship at Ursinus College’s Patterson Field after its thrilling 9-8 win over Hun School (NJ) tonight in the semifinals at The Hill School.

The second game (7:00 PM) will feature IMG Academy (13-2) from Florida vs. the Hill Academy (8-4) from Canada. Ursinus College is located at 601 East Main Street in Collegeville, PA. Both Semifinal games will stream live on LaX Sports Network. This event willbe played rain or shine.

Senior Kevin Vandegrift scored with 4 seconds to play to lift ANC to the win over Hun School.

The Lions had taken a 7-5 lead in the third period, but Hun School forged ties of 7-7 and 8-8 until Vandegeift won it.

Andrew Lapenta had two goals and an assist for ANC while Wil Vandegrift scored twice and Jeb Brenfleck, Joey Paterno and Dave Closterman also scored. Griff McGonley posted 12 saves.

Tickets are currently on sale at; $10 for adults, $7 for students and $5 for children 12 and under.
