US Lacrosse will host tryouts next week for the U.S. Men’s National Team that will compete in the 2018 Federation of International Lacrosse Men’s World Championship in Netanya, Israel.
What: U.S. Men’s National Team Tryouts
When: Monday, July 10 through Wednesday July 12
Where: US Lacrosse Headquarters, 2 Loveton Circle, Sparks, Md.
The FIL Men’s World Championship was first held in 1967 and has been held every four years since 1974. The United States has been the most successful nation on the world stage, winning nine championships and finishing as the runner-up in the other three events. In the most recent world championship, the U.S. finished as the runner-up to Canada in 2014 in Denver, Colorado.
Duke head coach John Danowski will serve as the head coach for the 2018 U.S. team.
A total of 72 players have been invited to the tryout, including past U.S. senior team members Matt Abbott, Drew Adams (Springfield-Delco, Penn State), Mitch Belisle, Jesse Bernhardt, Ned Crotty, Tucker Durkin (La Salle, Johns Hopkins), Michael Evans, Greg Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco, Penn State, Kyle Hartzell, Marcus Holman, Rob Pannell, Paul Rabil and Joe Walters. The tryout pool also includes the two most recent winners of the Tewaaraton Award – Dylan Molloy (2016) and La Salle grad and 2017 Maryland championship hero Matt Rambo (2017).
