From Press Release

The La Salle lacrosse team will welcome Samantha Nolan as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season, it was announced by head coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell on Wednesday.

Nolan joins the team after a five-year career at UMBC, where she led the Retrievers as captain for two seasons. As a senior, she led her team to an 11-6 overall record and a semifinal appearance in the America East championship. She was twice named First Team All-America East and led the program in career assists, with 73.

The attacker was twice named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll and scored 117 goals in her time playing for the Retrievers. During her career, she scooped up 41 gound balls, won 30 draws and caused 14 turnovers in her 66 game appearances.

“Over the past two years Sam has been a wonderful leader for our program. I am very excited to see her grow her knowledge and passion for the game at La Salle,” said UMBC coach Amy Slade. “We wish her the best of luck and we are very proud of her!”

Nolan coached for Integrity Lacrosse Club in Anne Arundel County, Md. for two years to coordinate practices, develop workout plans and assist with recruiting for the 2018 class. The Fallston, Md. product also spent four years assisting with the Brine National Lacrosse Classic, where she facilitated team assignments and managed score keeping for the tournament.

Since 2014, she has coached at the Maryland Women’s Lacrosse Summer Camps, running practices for the 2020 class and managing scrimmages.

Beyond the field, Nolan joins La Salle with experience as a UMBC athletic communications intern, where she worked with social media development, sports production and live streaming for the department’s 15 varsity sports. She also interned with UMBC’s marketing department to assist with ticket and merchandise sales as well as game day promotions.

“I’m really excited to get started and join both Candace and Ally at a program like La Salle. I’m extremely grateful for them giving me this opportunity to coach and immediately make an impact after graduating,” said Nolan. “To be able to continue my passion for lacrosse while learning more about the game from the coaching side gets me really excited for the future.”

Nolan will join head coach Taglianetti Bossell and Ally Heavens on the coaching staff for the upcoming spring season.
