Two-time National Champion women’s lacrosse player Kelly Devlin (Downingtown East) joined the Navy women’s lacrosse team as a volunteer assistant coach as announced by head coach Cindy Timchal (Haverford High). “We are super excited to have Kelly join our Navy women’s lacrosse program,” Timchal said. “She had an unbelievable playing career at the University of North Carolina, winning two national championships, as well as serving as team captain two times.

“She has a lot of versatility. She will oversee the goalies and work with the midfielders, as well as run the sub box. She is an excellent leader and an excellent coach. We are lucky to have her join us.”

Devlin, along with fellow Navy assistant coach Aly Messinger, helped lead the Tar Heels win two National Championship titles (2013, ’16). Devlin was a three-year starter in the midfield and served as team captain her final two seasons at UNC.

She earned a spot in the 2015-16 U.S. National Team Tryout Pool during offseason. In addition, Devlin participated in the Carolina Leadership Academy in the Veteran Leaders program,

A native of Downingtown, Devlin was named to the All-ACC Academic team and was a member of the ACC Honor Roll. She graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in media and journalism, specializing in advertising.

Coming from an athletic family, Devlin’s sister, Courtney Devlin, played field hockey at Princeton and her brother, Pat Devlin, played quarterback in the NFL for the Miami Dolphins.

Devlin played for the South team in the 2011 Under Armour All-America game and was a First-Team All-Phillylacrosse.com pick who led the Whippets to the District 1 championship and the state finals.
