Playing for the Sweetlax National and FCA National teams, 10 Philly boys players battled for the championship in the 2019 Gold division this week at the annual Lake Placid Summit Classic.

Sweetlax won the championship, 12-3, and its team included Connor Whalen (Bishop Shanahan, Maryland commit), Gavin Tygh (Penn Charter, UVA) and Zach Lee (Penn Charter, Syracuse). The FCA team had seven Philly players, including Will Bryan (Conestoga, Holy Cross), Connor Devine (Haverford School), Ryan Niggeman (Haverford School), Colin Fowler (Kennett), Zach May (Holy Ghost Prep), Matt Heuston (Hempfield) and Tate Wasson (Palmyra).

The championship game was a great opportunity to watch many talented players on the field, many of whom are rivals during their high school seasons. Tygh dominated at the face-off X while Connor Whalen and Zach Lee provided a shutdown defense for Sweetlax. Bryan had a goal and an assist for FCA in the championship game, and was joined on offense by Heuston and Devine who had strong performances at midfield. Niggeman, Fowler and Wasson were aggressive and relentless against a powerful Sweetlax offense, and May had an outstanding tournament in the goal.
