Saint Joseph’s sophomore midfielder Rebecca Lane (Victoria, Australia/Maribyrnong College) competed with Team Australia at the Team USA Fall Classic, played this past Saturday and Sunday at Tierney Field. A native of Victoria, Australia, Lane finished the four-game weekend with three goals on six shots, five assists, four ground balls, and a pair of draw controls.
The top four finishers from the most recent Federation of International Lacrosse Women’s World Cup along with defending NCAA champion North Carolina made up the field for the Team USA Fall Classic.
Team Australia opened up the event with a 12-11 victory over Team England on Saturday morning. Lane put away two goals and added two assists in the win and followed up with one goal and three assists in a 13-10 win over Team Canada that evening.
Lane turned in two draw controls in a 13-8 loss to North Carolina on Sunday afternoon and added a ground ball in Team Australia’s 19-4 loss to Team USA on Sunday evening.
“We are so proud of Bec,” said head coach Alex Kahoe. “We look forward to watching her continued success with the Australian National Team.”
Lane returns for her second season on Hawk Hill this spring after an outstanding freshman campaign for which she was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Year.
