NXT Lacrosse Club Girls‘ first full season is almost in the books, and after that rookie year, what can you do for an encore?

It’s time to find out. Tryouts for NXT 2020, NXT 2021, NXT 2022, NXT 2023, NXT 2024, NXT 2025 and NXT 2026 will take place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28, at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken. There is a $35 cost to try out. Players are expected to attend both days of tryouts.

“We’ve had an unbelievable first year as a club and our teams are getting nationally-recognized for their strong play,” NXT LC Girls Director Kate Henwood said. “We’re extremely excited to bring the area’s best girls to the Proving Grounds, starting with our Hype Night Camp in August, which is geared toward elite players. It’s also a great opportunity for players to see what we’re all about, work with the coaching staff and understand what we expect of our players and what they can expect of us. Our goal is to have NXT 2020, our first high school-aged team, be one of the nation’s elite teams. Our tryouts are geared around finding the best fit for NXT, but at the same time, it’s a very up-tempo environment that’s designed to give each girl a ton of reps and an experience she won’t forget.”

All tryouts are completely open, regardless of where a player played the year before. NXT 2020 players are offered automatic admission to the Girls Philly Showcase, one of the best girls’ recruiting events in the country. NXT only has one team per age group to foster a family atmosphere that is essential to building personal relationships. NXT 2020 will practice twice a week year-round and play in four summer events and three fall events. NXT 2021 through 2026 will practice once a week in the fall, winter and summer seasons and will play in a total of four to six events throughout the year. Henwood, NXT 2020 head coach Amanda Kammes and NXT 2022 head coach Casey Kellogg are all former Division I coaches, having worked together on the UC-Davis staff. They’re surrounded by a group of experienced coaches who are dedicated to bringing the best out of every player.

“We have such an passionate, energetic coaching staff, and we want to make sure that all of our coaches can focus solely on one team,” Henwood said. “We could field multiple teams per age group, but we prefer to keep it to one to make sure every player receives high-level coaching. We also offer family meetings for our 2020, 2021 and 2022 teams to make sure every girl knows her strengths and what she has to work on. We can’t wait to see everyone on the 27th and 28th!”
